Manually Operated Fire Resistant Roller Shutter Door

Tested in accordance with BS476: part 22: 1987 (method 8) by the BRE, at their Technical Centre, (Test Report No. TE85423), and assessed to a maximum size of 3000mm wide and 3000mm high give from ½ hour to 4 hours fire protection.

The shutter curtain is constructed from suitable interlocking galvanised steel laths and galvanised “T” section bottom rail, running in galvanised steel side channels, mounted on mild steel support angles which are bolted to the structure.

The curtain weight is counterbalanced by means of a helical spring within a suitable steel tube barrel assembly at high level, running on steel bearings. The barrel assembly is supported between mild endplates. A galvanised steel coil casing is provided as standard.

All mild steel components are finished in one coat of black primer.

Fire roller shutter doors are used on internal applications where fire resistance is a necessity. BRE tested and rated up to 4 hours fire integrity protection in critical fire controlled and monitored areas.

Options

Controlled descent electrical operator which allows opening and closing of the door via a push button control and gives a safe, slow descent under fire alarm conditions. It can be connected to all types of alarm and building management sytems to automatically close.

Push / pull operation – this type of door is usually operated via a thermal fusible link.

Controlled Descent Fire Resistant Roller Shutter Door

The door is fitted with a controlled descent operator, which was witnessed by the BRE and was included in their test report. The controlled descent operator ensures the Health & Safety of personnel who may be within the close proximity of the door when the self-closing mechanism is activated.

The shutter curtain is constructed from suitable interlocking galvanised steel laths and galvanised “T” section bottom rail, running in galvanised steel side channels, mounted on mild steel support angles which are bolted to the structure.

Operation: –

Manual operation by means of push up / pull down. These doors are designed to be left in the fully open position and are not suitable for every day use.

Activation: –

By means of a captivated drop weight suspended by a fusible link (activated at 68ºC), or solenoid.

Operation: –

Manual operation by means of continuous galvanised haul chain for opening and a pull cord disengage device to give controlled descent on closing. Due to the gearing within the controlled descent operator, the manual operation is a slow process and is designed for occasional use only.

Electrical operation is by means of a high quality single or three phase controlled descent operator. All controls are low voltage and have open, close and emergency stop button as standard. Emergency manual over ride is provided as standard to allow operation of the door in case of power failure.

Activation: –

By means of either a fusible link, manually re-set solenoid or auto re-set solenoid.
